Hi fellow foodies and Happy New Month to you and Yours. :)
I'm happy to introduce the new series on the blog, yaay... The "HOW TO" series.
In this series, I'll be sharing basic plating techniques, easy recipes that require less ingredients, and also tips that would hasten cooking and also make the kitchen experience more fun.
So, to kick-start this series, we have; The Amala roll *drum-roll please*
Basically, its past that time when we just slab food on a plate. I mean, we feed the eyes before the mouth. Presentation is key. Even if it's just placing/serving the meals side by side without having any culinary/plating training, it goes a long way to show ones love and respect for food. Let's get started;
Here's what you'll need to make eba or amala roll or any other 'swallow'
- Aluminium foil or plastic wrap or Parchment paper
- Rolling pin/ or any round-like bottle in your kitchen (Improvisation is allowed)
- A tray or board
- Of course, the eba, or amala or swallow of choice
Steps
- Place plastic wrap in a tray/board (long enough to be able to roll)
- Place swallow at the center of the plastic wrap
- Cover the other side of the wrap on the swallow
- Use rolling pin (or your improvised material) to roll the swallow in a rectangular form
- Hold the tip of the plastic wrap and begin to fold the amala in small layers
- The outcome should be like this:
- Serve with soup of choice and Enjoy!
